About Southern Swaps

Most likely, you have more than one pair of earrings in your jewelry box (or some random place) that you don't wear. Maybe you are bored with them. Perhaps they were a gift that just won't go with anything in your closet. Or could it be that you bought them for yourself, because they were a must have, even though you knew you had nothing to wear them with?

What about an old CD that you haven't popped into the player in years? A bottle of perfume that it turns out you loved... only on other people! Handbags that were perfect for the new outfit but were too large or small for your needs. Or let's be honest, we all have those gifts we've received that would be perfect for lots of people - you just aren't one of them.

I know you probably don't have a big pile of these things sitting around in the living room. But if I were to ask you to find each of them, I bet you could. And if you did, would you be willing to give them up - to exchange it for a similar item?

Of course nothing comes from the South without a story. I mean, I have friends who could hand you a penny they just picked up 30 seconds ago on the ground and would be able to spend at least 15 minutes telling you the story of how they acquired the coin. Wouldn't you love to know the story behind the item you're receiving? You know, something more than the "made in China" sticker on the bottom of your WalMart flip flops.
